Speaking exclusively to Bild, Jonathan Burkardt was asked about his Eintracht Frankfurt future after former captain Sebastian Rode sees the German forward as his ‘legitimate successor’.

“I’m someone who needs to feel comfortable and the sporting prospects are also very important to me,” said Burkardt, who returned from a three month injury lay-off last month. “I find both of those things here, so I’m very happy.

“What will things look like in the distant future? That’s always hard to say in football, but I have a contract until 2030 and I’m very happy about that.

“I deliberately signed a long-term contract with Eintracht.”

Jonathan Burkardt’s Eintracht Frankfurt career so far

Since joining from Mainz 05 for €21m in July 2025, Burkardt has featured 12 times in the Bundesliga for Eintracht, returning nine goals.

Without a goal in his first two league outings for Die Adler, the 25-year-old plundered six goals in five games, a run in which the German struck successive braces against Freiburg and St. Pauli.

On his return following a calf injury which sidelined him for 10 games, Burkardt scored in Frankfurt’s 3-2 loss against Bayern Munich.
