It is the second time the 71-year-old has earned this honour, having first done so at Al Hilal, rivals of Al Nassr. During the celebrations he spoke about a possible return to Luz. He has enjoyed two successful spells in the Middle East.

Félix enjoyed a standout first season with Al Nassr, finding fresh impetus and delivering goals and assists. His contributions helped the Riyadh side win the league for the first time since 2019.

The former Benfica number 79 had been shortlisted alongside compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Rúben Neves, who will accompany Félix to the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Ronaldo, the Portugal captain, did not collect an individual trophy.

In other categories, Julian Quinones finished as top scorer with 33 goals in 31 matches, and Edouard Mendy took the golden glove with 14 clean sheets. Musab Al Jawary, 22, was named the best Saudi player in the league.
