According to Coluna Do Fla, Filipe Luís left Flamengo in the early hours of Tuesday 03 after Luiz Eduardo Baptista decided to dismiss the head coach. The departure prompted criticism from Jorginho’s sister, Fernanda Frello, directed at the club’s supporters.

Using strong language, Frello said certain sections only back the team at its peak and do not understand season planning. She referenced supporters shouting an obscenity at the stadium the previous night, asked if they were satisfied with what they had done to Filipe, and called it a shame, labelling the crowd shameless.

Protests against Filipe Luís, the board and players had flared after defeat to Lanús of Argentina in the Recopa Sudamericana. Even after an 8-0 win over Madureira, chants of “time sem vergonha” were heard at the Maracanã.

Flamengo have moved for Leonardo Jardim, with the Portuguese coach expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday 03 at around 18:00 Brasília time, landing at Galeão International Airport to sign a two-year contract.

Now without Filipe Luís, Flamengo face Fluminense in the Campeonato Carioca final at the Maracanã on Sunday 08 at 18:00 Brasília time. The match is set to be shown on Rede Globo free-to-air and on Premiere pay-per-view.
