José Mourinho faces derby doubts as Ríos and Araújo ‘to face Sporting’ uncertain | OneFootball

José Mourinho began Benfica's derby preparations on Tuesday 14 April, but Richard Ríos and Tomás Araújo remain doubts to face Sporting.

As reported by A Bola, the 63-year-old recalled his squad after a day off following the 2-0 win over Nacional. Training images did not show either player.

Ríos left that match with physical complaints, casting uncertainty over his involvement. His problem is traumatic rather than muscular, which increases the chance he recovers in time to face Sporting.

Araújo's situation is trickier, the 23-year-old is recovering from a muscle injury that has ruled him out of Benfica's last two games. His rehabilitation is on schedule and there is still hope he could feature at Alvalade.

This season Araújo, valued at 28 million euros, has made 36 appearances for Benfica, 20 in Liga Portugal Betclic, nine in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Liga Portugal Meu Super. Across 2,538 minutes, he has one goal and one assist.
