Manchester United fans appear largely split over what to do about the future of Joshua Zirkzee.

Having struggled for minutes this season, Zirkzee has stepped in for main striker Benjamin Sesko following his knee injury.

While the Dutch forward initially seemed to be struggling to adjust in matches such as the Everton loss, he found his feet in the Crystal Palace clash, scoring a stunning goal to hand Man United the lead as they cruised to a crucial away win.

Given his mixed bunch of performances, it seems that United fans are largely unsure about what the club should do with Zirkzee once the January transfer window opens.

What the poll says

The Peoples Person held a poll to ask fans, “What should United do with Joshua Zirkzee in January?”

With 2,600 fans voting, 1,083 said that the club should sell him as he doesn’t appear to be part of Amorim’s plans.

While this was the most popular answer, the majority of respondents were actually in favour of keeping Zirkzee, albeit in different ways.

595 people said that they would like United to keep him as a rotation option, while 461 respondents want him to get regular first-team starts.

Another 461 people want to loan him out so that he can get more minutes and perhaps secure a spot in the Netherlands’ World Cup next year.

Still, it seems that Zirkzee’s future remains uncertain, if numerous media reports are to be believed.

Transfer links

Zirkzee seems to be highly appreciated in Italy, where he played before arriving at Old Trafford.

AS Roma reportedly views Zirkzee as a transfer priority, although he may just remain in the Premier League if another potential loan deal goes through.

Sunderland have allegedly considered a cheeky swoop for Zirkzee, eyeing him as a short-term loan option.

While it remains to be seen whether Zirkzee will hit top form at United this season, the club will surely want to avoid a permanent sale for too little money, particularly since he seems to still have so much more to give.
