Liverpool have wasted no time in securing the futures of two of their most important figures. As Rousing The Kop report, “Liverpool are working to make progress on three more new contracts after sealing the futures of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.” Salah’s extension was confirmed on Friday, keeping him at Anfield for at least two more years, with an option to stretch that to 2028. Van Dijk is next in line, with his signing expected imminently.
That means the Reds have already tied down both their captain and top scorer – two foundational pieces for the Arne Slot era.
The next names on the priority list? “Liverpool are now set to focus on securing new deals for Ibrahima Konate, Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones.” Konate is the most urgent, with his current contract running until 2026. The Frenchman is believed to be seeking a pay rise, but according to RTK, Liverpool remain “positive over the centre-back extending his contract”, expecting a resolution this summer.
Bradley and Jones, both academy products, also have two years remaining. The club expects “progress over the coming months”, and there’s internal confidence that all three will commit to longer stays.

It’s not just the current trio of focus. RTK also notes that “the prospect of a new contract for Luis Diaz has not yet been ruled out.” With several players seeing deals expire in 2026 and 2027 – including Alisson, Gomez, Elliott and Tsimikas – Liverpool’s contract strategy appears to be stepping up in scale and urgency.
While major focus has been on the high-profile names, the club must also navigate exits. Backup keepers Vitezslav Jaros and Harvey Davies are expected to leave this summer. That trims the squad’s depth but also gives the club some flexibility in reshaping the roster for Slot’s vision.
This proactive stance reflects Liverpool’s intention to secure stability amidst managerial transition. With Jurgen Klopp’s era closed and Arne Slot stepping in, continuity among key players becomes even more vital. Keeping hold of players like Konate, who is entering his prime, or nurturing talents like Bradley and Jones, gives the club both short-term strength and long-term value.

The club could easily have slipped into a reactive mode post-Klopp, but this approach shows direction. Salah staying until 2028 – possibly – sends a huge message. He’s still delivering, and the fact he’s chosen to remain gives fans confidence in the project ahead.
Konate, in particular, is a must-keep. He’s got the blend of aggression and calm that we’ve needed at the back, and his age profile means he could lead that line for years. If it takes a pay bump to secure him, so be it. Let’s not mess around like we did in the past with key defenders.
As for Jones and Bradley – this is smart. Both are homegrown, understand the club, and have developed well. Jones showed he can dominate midfield spells, and Bradley looks more and more like a proper first-team option at right-back.
There’s a buzz around locking players in early. It avoids drama, shows respect, and lets Slot build with clarity. If Diaz is next, even better – he’s only just getting into rhythm. The idea of a settled core, heading into a new chapter, is exactly what we needed.
