Eintracht Frankfurt’s pursuit of Newcastle striker William Osula has moved from background interest to a developing winter storyline. Credit to Sky Germany, who report that “Eintracht Frankfurt were heavily interested in William Osula last summer,” with that chase now accelerating again as “this transfer saga is gaining momentum again in Frankfurt this winter.” Significantly, “according to Sky Germany information, a winter transfer is now taking concrete shape.”

The deal appeared doomed last August after active attempts to prise the forward away failed. As the report reminds, “Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche tried everything on deadline day of last summer’s transfer window to lure William Osula to Frankfurt,” yet “Newcastle refused to let their striker leave.” The door, however, never truly closed.
The interest has remained steady, with Frankfurt prepared to revisit negotiations. “The Osula situation in Frankfurt is not off the table: Frankfurt still want to sign the Premier League striker this winter,” while contingency planning remains fluid, as “it’s also possible that Eintracht Frankfurt could bring in two strikers in the winter transfer window.”
The most significant development concerns the structure of a possible deal. “According to Sky Sports, there is a basic verbal agreement with the Danish striker, who still wants to move to Frankfurt.” The Bundesliga club “is considering a winter loan (fee: approximately three million euros) with a subsequent purchase option of 20 million euros,” though it is noted that “the transfer also depends on the Magpies’ owners.”
Should negotiations stall, Frankfurt have lined up alternatives. “Should the desired transfer fall through in the winter transfer window, Eintracht Frankfurt has identified Younes Ebnoutalib (SV Elversberg) as an alternative for the striker position,” while it is confirmed that “Niclas Füllkrug, who wants to leave West Ham United this winter, is currently no longer a target for sporting director Krösche.”

Osula remains a project rather than a proven Premier League contributor, but fans see potential in his physical profile and developing sharpness. The idea of losing him on a loan with an option feels risky, particularly when squad depth already looks stretched through a congested fixture schedule.
Supporters understand the logic. Minutes have been limited, and a Bundesliga platform could accelerate his development, but the insistence that the deal “depends on the Magpies’ owners” points to concerns over value protection. A 20 million euros purchase option might look sensible now, yet could soon feel modest if Osula explodes in Germany.
Newcastle fans also worry about optics. After resisting a move last summer, authorising a mid season exit could be perceived as reactive rather than strategic. Development requires patience, and supporters would prefer continuity over constant churn. While Frankfurt’s interest appears persuasive, many fans would favour retaining Osula until clearer long term contributions are assessed, especially when alternative striker recruitment has not fully stabilised the squad.
