Journo discloses what Amorim ‘ordered’ two Reds to do after he was left ‘so irked’ in the first half

Manchester United cruised to a 4-0 victory on home turf against Everton yesterday – although it did take them around half an hour to really kick into gear.

In fact, the affair was so cagey inside the first 30 minutes that Dean Ashton claimed United were ‘stinking the place out’ on Sky Sports News, adding that Everton had been ‘excellent’ up to the 18-yard box.

The Toffees were granted their fair share of possession at that time, but as has so often been the case for Sean Dyche’s men as of late, they were simply unable to make anything of their chances.

At one point in the first half, Samuel Luckhurst spotted Ruben Amorim growing ‘so irked’ that Everton were continuously being allowed to play into United’s half that he ‘ordered’ both Mason Mount and Alejandro Garnacho to warm up. That was until Marcus Rashford netted the opener, with some help from Jarrad Branthwaite’s deflection, and the Reds were able to run riot at Old Trafford.

Alas, Garnacho didn’t enter the fray until the three points were already wrapped up. He replaced Bruno Fernandes, who notched two assists, in the 65th minute, while Kobbie Mainoo made way for Mount in the 79th minute. The youngster’s first-half yellow card means that he’s suspended – as is Lisandro Martinez – for United’s trip to face Arsenal on Wednesday, which could open the door for Mount to return to the starting XI.

In just his second Premier League game, Amorim achieved something that Erik ten Hag failed to do throughout the entirety of his two-and-a-half-year tenure: oversee a win by a four-goal margin. It’s certainly an experience fans will be hoping they can grow accustomed to.

After travelling to take on the second-placed Gunners midweek, United host in-form Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.
