Jules Koundé Doesn’t Hold Back After Barcelona Falls to PSG | OneFootball

PSG pulled off a late 2-1 win against FC Barcelona on Wednesday night at Montjuïc Stadium. Barcelona got on the board first, but PSG answered with two goals to secure the win.

Ferran Torres gave the home side the lead in the 19th minute, but PSG equalized before halftime when Senny Mayulu finished off a Nuno Mendes setup in the 38th minute.

The match looked destined for a draw until the 90th minute, when Gonçalo Ramos buried a pass from Achraf Hakimi to seal all three points for PSG.

After the match, Barcelona defender Jules Koundé spoke to Canal+ and explained why the Parisians were better on Wednesday night.

“I think they controlled the ball and were also physically superior,” Koundé said (h/t Paris Fans). “We weren’t able to press the way we wanted. I believe a little bit of everything was missing from our game tonight. We have to acknowledge that they delivered a very strong performance. I’m disappointed…

“I’m not surprised—we know the quality of this team. They are full of confidence and have top-level players. Today, they showed why they are European champions. It was a tough match, and they were the better team tonight.”

Koundé had a challenging night against PSG despite the French side missing three key pieces to their attack. The Barcelona standout only won 5 of 12 total duels and was dribbled past twice by the Ligue 1 side. It will be interesting to see if the Frenchman can have a bounce-back performance on Matchday 3.
