According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, it has now been confirmed that La Liga has given the green light for Barcelona’s upcoming league clash against Valencia to be played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

Barcelona had already announced that Sunday’s fixture would take place at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

However, the official approval from La Liga came a day later, following a final inspection of the stadium.

Representatives from the league visited the facilities in Sant Joan Despi on Wednesday to review the modifications and ensure that all requirements had been met.

With approval granted, the match will go ahead as planned in front of 6,000 spectators.

Barcelona working on making it match fit

In recent days, Barcelona and La Liga have been in continuous contact to ensure everything was prepared on time. The inspection centred around three main issues.

First, the correct installation of 24 VAR cameras and their placement to meet competition rules, the setup of a fibre optic connection to prevent technical failures similar to those seen during the Rayo-Barça fixture on August 31, and some minor adjustments related to irrigation on the pitch.

All these matters have now been resolved and validated on-site by La Liga. This means there is no longer any risk of the match being challenged or relocated.

This approval not only provides certainty for the club but also underlines Barcelona’s flexibility during a season where the team has had to adapt to changes and logistical challenges.

Hosting a La Liga match in a more intimate setting, with just 6,000 fans, will be a unique experience for both players and supporters.

For Hansi Flick and his squad, the focus will now shift entirely to the sporting side of things.

With three training sessions scheduled before Sunday, Barcelona will aim to put on a strong display against Valencia and make the most of what promises to be a special and historic evening at the Johan Cruyff.
