He called upon 19-year-old Ayden Heaven to fill in at the back, and utilised natural full-back Noussair Mazraoui alongside him in central defence.

Heaven’s record in the Premier League this season

Remarkably, the duo were superb, keeping a clean sheet across the 90 minutes and preventing Chelsea’s mega-money attackers from even having a sniff at Senne Lammens’ goal.

Carrick hoping Yoro will be match-fit by Monday

Now, in the lead-up to Monday night’s encounter at home to Brentford, Carrick is reportedly optimistic that Yoro, whom United legend Alex Stepney hailed as ‘sensational’ after the draw with West Ham in February, will be back in the fold – despite missing out this morning.

Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan shared a snap of the players in action at Carrington, adding that Matheus Cunha, the only goalscorer at Stamford Bridge last time out, is on a recovery day.

Patrick Dorgu and De Ligt remain sidelined, with the latter having not featured since November.
