Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has made up his mind after realising he has no chance of earning a prominent role under Ruben Amorim.
The 20-year-old has only amassed 171 minutes in the Premier League this season from his nine substitute appearances. His only start this term ensued in the humiliating Carabao Cup defeat in Grimsby in late August.
Amorim had long explained that Mainoo must fight for a starting berth against Bruno Fernandes, so many felt his chances of securing a starting role were doomed from the get-go.
On Thursday, the England international remained on the bench for the duration of the match, prompting an angry rant from Paul Scholes, who accused the manager of ruining Mainoo’s career.
The United legend regrettably encouraged the young player to leave Carrington and find himself a club that appreciates his value and is willing to entrust him with an important role.

Apparently, Mainoo fully agrees with the iconic midfielder and has already set his mind on leaving the club in the middle of the season in the hopes of rescuing his remaining World Cup chances.
According to talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook, the Man Utd academy product is ‘desperate’ to seal a move in January, after failing in his bid to convince the club to loan him out last summer.
Crook insists that Amorim’s treatment has ‘shattered’ Mainoo’s confidence in his skills, so he needs to depart as soon as possible in order to put his career back on track.
The source adds that the midfielder has two domestic champions vying for his services. The first is Napoli, who has already revived the careers of Mainoo’s former Man Utd teammates Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund, whereas the second is Bayern Munich, where he would also be reunited with his England captain, Harry Kane.
While MUFC supporters would be loath to bid their young idol farewell, a departure would be the most sensible choice for the player’s own sake.
