Burnley's Mike Tresor was pictured in training with the club's first-team, despite rarely being seen during the 2025/26 season.
Burnley will be targeting promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking next season, in what should be an interesting year ahead for the Clarets.
It was a familiar story for Burnley in the top-flight in last year's campaign, as they were relegated back into the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.
Burnley have now been relegated on the last three occasions they've played in the top-flight, whilst also winning promotion from the second-tier in their last two seasons that they've played in the Championship.
The club clearly aren't investing in the right players when winning promotion, and if they are to consolidate themselves in the top-flight on a regular basis, then they need to look at potentially changing their recruitment process.
Plenty of players simply haven't hit the heights that were originally expected of them, and it's important that the club invest sensibly in future signings moving forwards.
One player that could fall into that category is Mike Tresor, who signed for Burnley on a permanent basis back in 2024, after catching the eye in a loan spell with the Clarets during the 2023/24 league campaign, when they were playing in the Premier League.

Tresor is contracted with Burnley until the summer of 2028, and it's fair to say that the winger is yet to justify the £15.4m fee that the club stumped up for his services on a permanent deal.
The 27-year-old didn't make a single league appearance for Burnley in the 2024/25 season, with his only outing coming in a win over Reading in the FA Cup in January 2025.
He then went on to make just six Premier League appearances, with all of those being as a substitute late on in a game. So, it's clear to see that he's not favoured in the team at this moment in time.
Therefore, it was certainly surprising to see Tresor featuring in Burnley's pre-season training footage that emerged recently from the club's Barnfield Training Centre. It could give a slight indication that he could feature for the club's first-team in the Championship this term.
Football League World's Burnley fan pundit, Aaron Wright issued his thoughts on Tresor's future with the club, and felt as though the club should look to move him on at the earliest of opportunities: "Should we cut ties? Probably. Can we cut ties? I don't know. The fee would have to be decent, and if he goes, it should be permanently. He can't be another big fee player out on loan."

Tresor showed plenty of promise in his loan spell with Burnley back in the 2023/24 season, but for one reason or another, he simply hasn't kicked on and justified the hefty fee that the club paid to sign him.
Wright went on to claim that Tresor could be the best player in the Championship if he comes back into the fold fit and ready to go, but openly admitted that if the right offer comes in for the winger this summer, they should look to cut their losses with him: "If he somehow stays and is interested, reinvigorated and fit, he could be the best player in the league. He's very technical and very creative, but if the right offer comes in, we should just sell him."
Burnley are set to get their 2026/27 Championship campaign underway with possibly the toughest test they'll have all season, as they take on West Ham, who will also be targeting an immediate return back into the Premier League themselves this term.
It remains to be seen as to whether Tresor will feature against the Hammers, and it could be a crucial few weeks ahead for his future at Turf Moor.
