Inter Milan fell to two late goals as Juventus emerged 4-3 victors at the Allianz Stadium, with Nerazzurri goalkeeper Yann Sommer. However, Inter legend Walter Zenga has defended the Swiss shot-stopper.

It was not a good day for either goalkeeper.

Juventus’ Michele Di Gregorio saved just one of Inter’s four shots on target.

Meanwhile, Inter keeper Sommer failed to make a single save all game.

However, Zenga points out that two of the Bianconeri’s goals were exceptional and there is not much that could have been done by the Swiss international.

He was critical of how the Nerazzurri utilised their squad.

“If you want to change, you have to show up with certain players.

“If Juve wins because they put Adzic on with 10 minutes left, I don’t understand why Pio Esposito returned to Inter.”

Speaking in the studios of Sky Sport, with quotes via FCInter1908, Zenga defended the Inter keeper.

“It’s easy to think that the goalkeeper is to blame for the goals,” Zenga said.

“But if you consider that with shots from outside the box, especially the last goal, the ball is still and it doesn’t move.

“It means it takes a moment to get to the goal.”

Zenga added “When it comes to determining the keeper’s responsibilities for such well-executed shots, I’d talk more about the skill of the player taking them.”

Zenga also reflected on the Nerazzurri’s defensive struggles in recent games.

“The issue is a bit more complex,” he said.

“If we consider that in a Champions League final we concede five, today we concede four and two against Udinese…

“In my opinion, if a new coach arrives, he can’t continue his predecessor’s path.

“There are differences in attention, ideas and much more,” Zenga added.
