It is set to be a busy few days of transfers in Juventus circles and the latest updates indicate that Joao Mario is increasingly likely to join Fiorentina in a deal that could become permanent by the end of the 2026-27 season.
According to Sunday’s reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus and Fiorentina are advancing in negotiations over a possible deal for Portuguese full-back Joao Mario, who is not expected to be part of Luciano Spalletti’s project heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
Fiorentina have reportedly ‘taken steps forwards’ in talks with Juventus over the last few days. Previous updates indicated that the two clubs were discussing a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for a fee in the region of €8m-€9m.

Joao Mario has only been on Juve’s books for the last year, having joined in a €12.6m transfer from Porto last summer.
He made 10 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady before being sent on loan to Bologna for the remainder of the 2025-26 season in a deal that saw Emil Holm temporarily move in the opposite direction.
