Juventus and Napoli plan to sign a top-notch striker in the summer, and their strategies intertwine, as the Bianconeri are willing to go all-out to sign Victor Osimhen, while the Partenopei are pursuing Jonathan David.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Nigerian striker won’t stay at Galatasaray. He has offers from Saudi Arabia, Al-Ahi in particular, but he doesn’t want to go there so early in his career. He has decided to wait for the Old Lady. He’s very attached to director Cristiano Giuntoli.
The stance by Osimhen leaves Napoli in a pickle, as they’d rather not sell him to Juventus. However, they have to find another destination he likes and can stomach his €10M salary, which is a problem for most teams, relatively quickly. The Bianconeri could offer more than his €75M release clause, which doesn’t work for Italian teams.
The Partenopei have an option to prolong the contract until 2027. It would permit another loan, but his wages would balloon to €15M.
In the meantime, David’s agents are in town for direct negotiations, Corriere dello Sport informs. The Azzurri have tabled their proposal. Besides the competition, there are hurdles to clear concerning the commissions and other aspects.
The circumstances that could bring the latter to Turin are in motion. It’s right for them to focus on such a role, but one has to wonder whether such a massive investment would lead to big sacrifices. As for the Lille star, it’d be surprising if the Partenopei emerged victorious in such a complicated chase given their history in dealing with entourages, extra costs, and image rights. Both deals would signify that Aurelio De Laurentiis is really hands-off these days.
