Arne Slot has left his position as head coach of Liverpool, and reports in Italy suggest that the departure of the Dutchman could potentially reopen the possibility of goalkeeper Alisson Becker leaving the club to join Juventus this summer.

Could Liverpool uncertainty help Juventus land Alisson deal?

Liverpool confirmed on Saturday that Slot has left his position as head coach by mutual consent, although reports from Tuttosport suggest that this was purely a matter of wording and that the coach was sacked by the club after a disappointing fifth-place finish in the Premier League this season.

The departure of the 2024-25 Premier League winner has brought a cloud of uncertainty over Anfield, despite the reports that the club have lined up a move for the Milan-linked Andoni Iraola to replace Slot for 2026-27.

Tuttosport claims that it was Slot who had instructed the Liverpool board to keep hold of goalkeeper Alisson for another season. The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Juventus, although recent reports claim that negotiating with Liverpool was becoming increasingly complicated.

Alisson is a player that is well known to Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti from their time spent working together at Roma.

According to Sunday’s report, Juventus hope that the recent uncertainty at Liverpool could make their signing of Alisson a real possibility again.

It is less to do with the rumoured appointment of Iraola, rather the fact that sporting director Richard Hughes could leave the club, which could potentially bring wholesale changes to the team’s transfer plans this summer.

Meanwhile, if Juventus are unable to strike a deal for Alisson, reports in Italy claim that Fiorentina’s David De Gea is being lined up as a potential alternative.
