Juventus manager Thiago Motta is eyeing a reunion with Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee in January, according to Sport Mediaset.
The Bianconeri have had a significant dip in form in the Italian top-flight. They are currently sixth in the standings on the back of four straight draws.
The Turin giants have been tipped to sign a centre-forward this winter, and Motta is reportedly interested in securing Zirkzee’s services.
Motta managed Zirkzee at Bologna for a couple of seasons.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani is the alternative option on his radar. The Bianconeri are likely to focus on a loan deal rather than a permanent move.
The Red Devils signed Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5 million in the last transfer window. He had a perfect start with a winning goal off the bench against Fulham at Old Trafford.
He failed to find the net in the next 17 games under managers Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy, but his fortunes have somewhat changed under new boss Ruben Amorim.
Zirkzee ended his long goal drought with a brace against Everton this month. He went on another barren run before scoring in the Carabao Cup quarter-final loss at Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.
The Dutchman has the potential to become a regular goalscorer and could stick with him until the end of the campaign before deciding his future.
Zirkzee could get the nod in the starting XI when United host Bournemouth in the league tomorrow.
