Kahn delighted with Bayern’s form: „Currently the best team in Europe“ | OneFootball

FC Bayern are currently causing a stir across Europe with their performances – and Oliver Kahn is also impressed. The former chairman of the German record champions even sees Munich as the best team in Europe at the moment

In particular, the 6:1 away win in the Champions League round of 16 first leg at Atalanta Bergamo left a big impression. For Kahn, Bayern’s current form is a clear sign of how strong coach Vincent Kompany’s squad now is

Speaking to Sky, Kahn particularly emphasized the enormous quality in the squad. „There is one indicator at FC Bayern that is very, very telling. You can basically play whoever you want from the squad – and the quality hardly drops off, or in some cases doesn’t drop off at all,“ explained the former world-class goalkeeper

For the 56-year-old, this is a classic sign of a successful season: „In the past, that was always an indication that it was going to be a very successful season.“

„Rarely seen so strong“

Kahn even went one step further in his analysis and gave the current Bayern team an exceptional testimonial: „I have rarely seen FC Bayern as strong as they are at the moment – not only in the Bundesliga, but also internationally,“ emphasized the former CEO

Kahn was particularly impressed by the team’s style of play: „The team almost plays like clockwork.“

Despite the many compliments, however, the former Bayern keeper also wanted to issue a small warning. In his view, many things are currently running almost too smoothly. „The only thing – and I’m always a friend of resistance – is that everything is going too well for me at the moment,“ explained Kahn. He added: „It’s going like clockwork, the way things are going.“

Nevertheless, Kahn’s conclusion remains clear: even if he doesn’t automatically want to declare FC Bayern as the Champions League favorites, he sees the Munich team at the top of European soccer at the moment

„I wouldn’t go so far as to say that FC Bayern will easily win the Champions League, but at the moment I think they are the best team in Europe in terms of the way they play soccer.“
