Kai Havertz struck in the sixth minute in Budapest, his second Champions League final goal, but Paris Saint-Germain retained the trophy on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The Arsenal forward put his side ahead early, adding to the winner he scored for Chelsea against Manchester City in the 2021 final, which finished 1-0.

Havertz became only the third player to score in Champions League finals for two different clubs. He follows Cristiano Ronaldo, with Manchester United in 2008 and Real Madrid in 2014 and 2017, and Mario Mandzukic with Bayern in 2013 and Juventus in 2017.

In recent weeks he has been decisive for Arsenal, contributing five times in his last six matches, three goals and two assists.

A proven man for finals, he was Chelsea’s hero in 2021 and later converted the extra time penalty that delivered the Club World Cup against Palmeiras, a 2-1 win.
