Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema has this week provided his take on the early teething problems being endured by Kylian Mbappé with the club.
Mbappé, for his part, of course sealed his long-awaited move to Real Madrid during the summer, after allowing his contract with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to expire.
The France international has since managed a more than solid record of eight goals and two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions.
And yet, amid sky-high expectations, Mbappé has nevertheless been subjected to regular condemnation from across the Spanish football landscape.
This comes with the 25-year-old’s overall performances having far too often left a lot to be desired.
And one individual of the opinion that a clear reason exists for as much comes in the form of the aforementioned Karim Benzema.
Speaking during an interview with El Chiringuito TV, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, this week, Blancos legend Benzema was drawn on his fellow countryman’s underwhelming start to life in Madrid.
And the Al-Ittihad star went on to explain:
“For me, Mbappé is not a 9. He’s a left winger. But the problem is that at left wing, there’s Vinicius Jr.“
