Karlsruhe 1-2 Inter: Fantastic Diouf late double seals friendly victory

Andy Diouf scored twice in stoppages to give Inter a 2-1 victory over Karlsruher with a sensational strike in their second pre-season friendly match.

The Nerazzurri had their first real test of the summer, after a 16-0 win over a local side in their German camp.

Aleksandar Stankovic took the midfield reins, with Francesco Pio Esposito upfront.

Yann Bisseck forced a tricky save on the Nicolò Barella assist, then there were massive changes at the break from Cristian Chivu.

Mosconi went on the counter from his own half only to be denied by a desperate tackle.

Instead, it was Karlsruher who took the lead moments later, with Tim Civeja finishing off the counter-attack.

This woke the Nerazzurri up, and they had a series of chances with the goalkeeper denying Luka Topalovic and a Benjamin Pavard header, while Ramirez fired off target from a promising position for Karlsruhe.

Just as it seemed as if the game was over, Diouf stepped up with two fantastic goals out of nowhere.

In the equaliser, Dimarco’s corner was cleared to the edge of the box, where he hit a scorcher through a crowd of legs.

That wasn’t the end either, because deep into stoppages Diouf bent a wonderful finish into the far corner with the inside of the left foot from inside the area.

Diouf has said he sees himself as more of a central midfielder, but if he keeps these performances up, then perhaps the Nerazzurri already have the heir to Denzel Dumfries on the right.
