David Catala's Coaching Staff Confirmed for Kerala Blasters

Kerala Blasters FC has announced the coaching team that will assist newly appointed head coach David Catala, with his first assignment being the upcoming Super Cup in Bhubaneswar.

Catala, who was brought in to replace Mikael Stahre after his dismissal last December, is expected to arrive in Kochi within the next few days, pending visa approval. The team has already begun training in Kochi and will travel to Bhubaneswar closer to the start of the competition.

For the Super Cup campaign, Catala will be joined by Rafa Montenegro, who will serve as the first team's Strength and Conditioning Coach. The coaching staff will be completed by TG Purushothaman as Assistant Coach and Slaven Progovecki as Goalkeeper Coach.

The club has also confirmed that following the conclusion of the Super Cup, Catala's backroom staff will be expanded with the addition of a foreign Assistant Coach. This new appointment will join the team during pre-season preparations for the 2025-26 campaign, with further announcements to be made once agreements are finalized.

Catala takes over a Kerala Blasters side that finished eighth in the 2024-25 Indian Super League season, falling seven points short of the playoff positions. The Spanish coach will be looking to make an immediate impact in the Super Cup before building toward a more successful league campaign next season.

The interim coaching duo of TG Purushothaman and Tomasz Tchorz had been managing the team since Stahre's departure. Purushothaman will continue as part of Catala's staff, while Tchorz appears to be moving on from his role.
