Kevin de Bruyne compares Napoli’s Rasmus Hojlund to Erling Haaland | OneFootball

Serie A side Napoli picked up a 2-1 win over Sporting in the Champions League on Wednesday and it was their first win of the competition.

They were left disappointed in their trip to Manchester City a couple of weeks ago, as Giovanni di Lorenzo’s red card led to a defeat.

A brace from Rasmus Hojlund carried them through on Wednesday, as the Dane took his goalscoring tally to three goals for Napoli.

Kevin de Bruyne assisted Hojlund for his second goal and the Belgian spoke to the press after the game and talked about the Manchester United loanee. He compared him to Erling Haaland.

He said, via Corriere dello Sport: “We played a great game, but Sporting are strong and played a great game with technique and intensity.

“We created chances, but then the penalty was a bit of a stupid mistake. We deserved the win today. I was trying to get into that space for the first goal and was waiting for the right moment to pass it to Rasmus, luckily he did the rest. I think Rasmus is growing a lot and is very similar to Haaland.”

On how similar Haaland and Hojlund are, De Bruyne said: “I think they are very similar because they both like to attack the depth. Maybe Hojlund comes to play the ball towards us more, but I think he needs to attack the space a lot because he can score and give us a big hand.”

Hojlund is now getting more service at Napoli than he did at Manchester United and that is certainly helping him.

Antonio Conte is starting to bring the most out of the Denmark international, who has already expressed a desire to stay beyond this season.
