Kevin De Bruyne holds talks over Manchester City exit with MLS club interested | OneFootball

Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly held initial discussions over a potential move to the United States, via contact made through his representatives.

The 33-year-old is approaching the end of his existing Manchester City contract, which expires upon the culmination of the ongoing season, with no discussions or clear intent for a contract renewal to date.

Simultaneously, De Bruyne is also fighting an ongoing fitness battle following a groin injury sustained last month, as age appears to cause him increased problems at the level of intensity within English football.

Pep Guardiola has continuously insisted that De Bruyne is merely awaiting to reach 100 per cent match fitness before returning to matchday duties, having come back to first-team training over the last two weeks.

In the meantime, speculation continues to develop over what the future holds for Kevin De Bruyne, especially off the back of a summer transfer window littered with suggestions that Saudi Arabia could become his next home.

According to the information of Tom Bogert and Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT, San Diego FC have now had talks with the representatives of Manchester City’s vice-captain over a potential future move to the club.

It is explained that the 33-year-old prefers a move to Major League Soccer than Saudi Arabia if he is to leave Manchester City, and while there is said to be ‘mutual interest’ from both sides after preliminary talks, any move is ‘far from advanced’.

There does however remain a chance that Kevin De Bruyne remains where he is, with the report stressing that Manchester City themselves are ‘keen’ to keep the Belgium international captain at the club.

Kevin De Bruyne spoke extensively over the course of the summer months regarding his future, and particularly the prospect of a move to the Middle-East given the vast financial offerings that would be placed on the table for him.

While De Bruyne was accepting of the significant monetary benefits of a move to the Saudi Pro League, he also seemingly kept the door open to the lifestyle in the Middle-East being appropriate for his wife and young family.

“For Michele, an exotic adventure is OK. These are also conversations that we are increasingly having as a family,” De Bruyne told a Belgian broadcaster in the summer. “I still have one year of contract (at Manchester), so I have to think about what can happen.”

De Bruyne continued, “My eldest [child] is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play at City. Once the time comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.

“At my age, you have to be open to everything. You talk about unbelievable amounts in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.”

The Belgium international also said that should he spend two years in Saudi Arabia following the end of his career at Manchester City, then he would be “able to earn an incredible amount of money”.
