Last season the spine of the Premier League title-winning squad was provided by academy graduates - such as Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones.

Others - such as Tyler Morton - have been well prepared in the Reds’ ranks for a top-level career at other clubs.

Liverpool's academy success

Morton is currently at Lyon - while other academy boys have earned the club decent money in the shape of Ben Gannon-Doak, Bobby Clark, Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho in recent windows.

And still the hits keep coming.

Expectations are high for Rio Ngumoha - a 17-year-old winger who is already embedded in the first-team squad. Liverpool have got other promising youngsters in the ranks too - such as Trey Nyoni, Trent Kone-Doherty and Joshua Sonni-Lambie.

Inglethorpe linked with Everton move

And overseeing all of this development over the last decade or so has been academy director Alex Inglethorpe.

The 53-year-old first joined the Reds as under-21 coach back in 2012 - before earning his promotion and extra responsibilities. The former Tottenham staff member penned a contract in 2022 with the Reds.

But now according to a report, the academy head is being eyed by Everton as part of the Toffees’ backroom shakeup.

Football Insider claims the Merseyside club are “working on a deal” for Inglethorpe - which would be a sensational coup for David Moyes’ side.

“It would still be seen as a surprise deal if the Merseysiders were able to convince Inglethorpe to make the switch across Merseyside, due to the rivalry between the two clubs,” the report reads.

Inglethorpe has a son making his way through the Liverpool system at present in the shape of 17-year-old forward Finn. The former England U15 international has got three goals and two assists for his club in the U18 Premier League this term.
