Kiat Lim met Ron Gourlay and Carlos Corberán at Paterna to set two immediate priorities, hiring a sporting director and resolving Guido Rodríguez’s future.

According to Superdeporte, the president arrived at 11:30 and left at 17:45, departing alongside Joey Lim. The trio assessed the team and advanced 2026/27 planning.

Valencia want a sporting director or technical secretary in quickly to speed decisions. They are targeting a specialist in the Spanish market to lighten Corberán’s load. In February Gourlay outlined that an intermediate hire would arrive within 30-60 days, following November additions of scouting lead Lisandro Isei and market specialists Hans Gillhaus and Andrés Zamora.

Guido Rodríguez tops the to-do list. Valencia are preparing a move, though no opening offer emerged from the meeting. They want him to stay next season, but interest is growing in Europe, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and South America.

His case is treated independently of the sporting director search. Other renewals are more complex, with Corberán seeking to weigh alternatives before calls on players such as Eray Cómert and Thierry Rendall.

During the visit Lim watched part of training, greeted first-team players and staff, and toured departments with a focus on the Academy. Hours later Valencia announced the dismissal of Miguel Ángel Angulo as Mestalla head coach.

Lim will also visit the Nou Mestalla to review construction. The project is scheduled for summer 2027 after the city granted urban-planning permits.
