Former West Ham striker Teddy Sheringham has slammed the side for the performances for most of this season so far.

Sheringham was a fan favourite during his 3 years at the club. having signed in 2004 to help the club get promoted back to the Premier League.

“Some of the goals they’ve been giving away, you know, it’s just like watching kiddies football,” said Sheringham. “It’s absolutely ridiculous. Conceding goals through stupid mistakes, for me that was inevitable.

“West Ham fans can look at clubs like Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, clubs that they would consider to be small than their own and feel frustrated with what’s happening at the football club. They’ve been chasing David Moyes out of the football club for the last couple of years.

“He’s gone, and I don’t think things have really changed in terms of the style of play. It was quite a fitting game that West Ham had against Wolves the other day. They’re playing against another struggling team, to keep Lopetegui in a job. He needs a consistent run of results as well.”

Sheringham though did have some kind words for Michail Antonio, who is recovering after a horrific car accident.

“My heart goes out to him,” added the former England striker. “I hope he recovers well. He’s, you know, he’s been a fantastic servant for West Ham, but just for his own health now, he needs to get back walking and then go from there.”
