Wolves have fought off rival interest in a move to sign former England full-back Kieran Trippier. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 35-year-old has verbally agreed a two-year deal with an option of a third.

Rob Edwards has been integral to talks and the deal is set to be completed when the La Liga winner returns from holiday.

Supporters had already been left stunned by Brazilian international Andre committing for next season. A week on, the Trippier development has followed.

The 54-cap England defender is in line to be the first summer addition, while Wolves are also linked with a move for former striker Raul Jimenez.

Fans called it a smart start to the window and some suggested he could even be captain. Many praised owners Fosun after repeated criticism over decisions that ultimately led to relegation.

Others labelled it the best signing in years and urged Edwards and chairman Nathan Shi to keep going in the market. One remarked that, in the Championship, the club could field a Brazilian international and an England international who scored in a World Cup semi-final.
