Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has reportedly made a decision over his future amidst ongoing transfer uncertainty.
Mainoo has been unable to nail down a regular starting berth under Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag last year in the Old Trafford dugout.
Amorim has failed to find a consistent role for Mainoo and so far this term, the player has found minutes in the Premier League very hard to come by.
Mainoo has yet to start a top-flight match and has only featured for 76 minutes. Amorim is on record saying that Mainoo is in direct competition with Bruno Fernandes for a spot in the starting XI.
In the final week of the summer transfer window, Mainoo formally submitted a loan request to United, aiming to secure regular playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup. United declined his request despite several suitors lining up to snap him.
Ahead of the January window, interest in Mainoo remains high, with interested clubs keeping close tabs on his situation at Old Trafford.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are open to letting Mainoo go, provided they can secure a like-for-like replacement. However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the player has no desire to part ways with his boyhood club and is working hard to win Amorim over.
MEN claim, “Kobbie Mainoo is determined to win his starting role back at Manchester United this season.”
“The Manchester Evening News understands Mainoo is working hard at Carrington and doing everything he can to impress Ruben Amorim, who has challenged the youngster to improve.”
Steven Railston adds that Mainoo has gone as far as hiring a private chef to enhance his performance and strengthen his chances of reclaiming a place in the team.
The 20-year-old also enlisted the services of a private coach during the September international break.
With Casemiro suspended for Saturday’s meeting with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, Mainoo will be hoping to get a start.
