Kocaelispor frustrate Başakşehir as Rivas hits the bar in added time | OneFootball

Kocaelispor held Başakşehir to a 0-0 draw on Monday in Kocaeli, a point that moves the hosts up to eighth while the visitors stay sixth.

Early on, Daniel Agyei and Tayfur Bingöl both missed presentable openings as Kocaelispor carried a sporadic threat on the break.

After the restart, Eldor Shomurodov twice forced Serhat Öztaşdelen into smart saves, with the goalkeeper standing up well from close range. At the other end, Muhammed Sengezer denied Darko Churlinov from the centre of the box.

Selçuk Inan's double switch injected late energy as Rigoberto Rivas and Churlinov arrived together. Churlinov created the game's best moment, slipping Rivas through to rattle the bar in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Stoppages for treatment to Ahmet Oguz and Hrvoje Smolcic punctuated the second half, adding to a stop-start rhythm.

Başakşehir controlled much of the ball with 65.9% possession and delivered 29 crosses as they probed for a breakthrough. Kocaelispor mustered 11 attempts and came within centimetres of snatching it when Rivas struck the frame.
