Bayern Munich remain without star trio Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies when they travel to 1. FC Köln for their Bundesliga clash on Wednesday, head coach Vincent Kompany confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday.

Musiala is still working on his return to full fitness following the serious injury he suffered during last summer's Club World Cup. While he is edging closer to a return, a squad inclusion is still premature.

Kimmich remains sidelined with the ankle injury that has kept him out of Bayern's last two matches, and Davies is unavailable due to illness.

“Everything is going well with Jamal, he can do almost everything and is putting in a lot of extra work. That's a good sign – and he'll be back soon. Maybe I'll have some news to share at the next press conference, but for this one it's still too early for Kimmich, who hasn't trained with the squad yet, and Jamal," said Kompany.

With regards to Davies, he added:

"It's not so bad with ‘Phonzy’, it's winter, he's ill – that can always happen. But he didn't have any proper preparation, now he's sidelined and he's ill, so we'll have to throw him on to get him fit. Because we have so many games and so little training. I'm hoping he'll be able to train this week so we can put him on the bench for one or two games."

Compared with the 8-1 win over Wolfsburg, Bayern will also be without Josip Stanisic, who twisted his ankle during that match and now faces a spell on the sidelines.

“Stanišić won't be back in January, and we'll have to see when he can start again in February. But even then, he may be out for a few more weeks, depending on his recovery,” said Kompany.
