French defender Ibrahima Konate's lifted the lid on light hearted moment surrounding Real Madrid’s reported pursuit of him during the last transfer window.

Konate whose contract with Liverpool runs until June 2026 was strongly linked with move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Speaking to TF1, the 26 year old centre back said with smile:

"Will Ousmane Dembele win the Ballon d’or this year? Yes, I've no doubt about it"

"Does Kylian Mbappe pressure me to join Real Madrid? Yes, he calls me almost every 2 hour to talk about it (laughs)"

Contract situation

Despite Liverpool pushing hard to extend his stay, Konate's reportedly keen on future move to Real Madrid where he could potentially link up with close friend Mbappe.
