Kylian Mbappé absent from Real Madrid training | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé’s (26) absence from France’s final FIFA World Cup qualifier, against Azerbaijan, has been the subject of close scrutiny in France. The Real Madrid forward left Les Bleus after guiding his nation to next summer’s World Cup, thanks to a 4-0 win over Ukraine last Thursday, before then missing the trip to Azerbaijan for what was ultimately a dead rubber.

A communiqué from the FFF evoked ankle inflammation, which would be the subject of further tests by Real Madrid’s medical staff. Only Mbappé did not immediately return to the Spanish Capital, instead travelling to Dubai, deepening suspicions of a “diplomatic injury”.

FFF president, Philippe Diallo, has sought to play down the incident, describing it as a “non-topic” to L’Équipe. The France captain has now returned to Spain but he did not take part in Wednesday’s training session, as per L’Équipe, although that went for all of Real Madrid’s international players.

Xabi Alonso has afforded the international players more time off, and so Mbappé is expected back in training on Frida,y and he is still expected to play against Elche over the weekend.
