Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has on Sunday secured for himself a piece of club history.

This comes owing to his exploits in Los Blancos’ showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.

The season’s final edition of El Clásico is of course currently being contested in Catalunya’s capital, in a crunch clash atop the La Liga table.

Visitors Real Madrid headed into the fixture in the knowledge that only a victory would suffice, in keeping alive their hopes of displacing table-topping Barcelona before the season is out.

And to say that efforts towards as much got off to a fine start on the part of Carlo Ancelotti’s side would be something of an understatement.

Inside the opening quarter of an hour at Montjuïc, Real raced out into a two-goal lead.

The aforementioned Kylian Mbappé notched both goals, first converting from the penalty spot, before breaking the offside trap to slot home a confident finish on 14 minutes.

And as alluded to above, in the process, the Frenchman made history.

With 38 now to his name, Mbappé has secured for himself the record for most goals ever in a debut season with Real Madrid.
