Real Madrid won the La Liga and Copa del Rey double in the 2023-24 season, which was just an indication of the Merengue team being one of the strongest in Europe.
However, the club decided to ensure they had the best team on the continent by adding the French superstar Kylian Mbappe to their already formidable squad in the summer of 2024.
With his addition, Real Madrid emerged as the favorites to win all the big trophies in the 2024-25 season. However, as this season is now at an end, things have not gone exactly as planned, as Los Blancos were unable to win any major title.
One can argue that there were a lot of problems that Carlo Ancelotti faced this season, including the high number of injuries, the departure of key players like Toni Kroos, and a general imbalance in the team. Still, with the quality at his disposal, the Merengues should have won at least one big trophy.
There is no doubt that most Real Madrid fans would have been disappointed with this season, which offered few positive moments for the team. However, such positive aspects of this season were the performance of Kylian Mbappe.
Although he faced some difficult moments this year, there is no doubt that this was still a very good first season at Real Madrid for the French forward.

The main highlights of this first season remain his winning the Pichichi and the European Golden Boot, both titles that he won for the first time in his career.
His 31 goals in La Liga were the highest, and allowed him to beat the likes of Robert Lewandowski for the Pichichi title. Similarly, he also got the better of some of the more in-form names in Europe this season, i.e., Mohamed Salah and Viktor Gyokeres in the race for the Golden Boot.
Furthermore, with these 31 goals, he also became the first player since Lionel Messi to surpass the 30-goal barrier in La Liga.
In addition to these La Liga goals, Transfermarkt stats show that he scored another 7 goals in the UEFA Champions League, 2 in the Copa del Rey, 1 in the Spanish Super Cup, 1 in the Intercontinental Cup, and another in the UEFA Super Cup. Thus, his goal tally for this season was 42 goals in 55 appearances.
For now, he will have his eyes set on the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures with his French national side, where he will be facing Spain in the semi-final. After that, he will have the Club World Cup to showcase his talents. But the Real Madrid fans will already be excited to see him leading their forward line under Xavi Alonso in the next season.
