This season, the Los Angeles Galaxy have been decimated by injuries. Spanish midfielder Riqui Puig tore his ACL last year in the 2024 MLS Western Conference Finals. He was essentially ruled out for the 2025 MLS season.

The LA Galaxy's season opened up with forward Joseph Paintsil sitting out to recover from a hamstring issue. Veteran midfielder Marco Reus has missed time this year, as well.

For this weekend, the defending MLS Cup champions have more than a half dozen players listed out for Saturday's match against the Seattle Sounders. A loss or a tie could mathematically put an end to the sliver of hope that the LA Galaxy make the playoffs.

Who is listed out for the Los Angeles Galaxy?

On the defensive line, Julian Aude and Emiro Garces are both nursing foot injuries. Their ailments are preventing them from taking the field for the LA Galaxy.

So far, Aude has appeared in 26 games this season. He has started 12 of them and subbed in the other 14 matches. The 22-year-old Argentine player has been with the LA Galaxy since the 2023 season.

Garces is 23 years old and has been one the team's best defenders this year. He is more of a starter than Aude (18 starts), and has scored his first-ever MLS goal back in March during the 2-2 draw against Minnnesota United FC.

Mathias Jorgensen is questionable for Saturday. Zanka joined the LA Galaxy to help take the ease off losing Jalen Neal and with identifying last year's starters Maya Yoshida and Miki Yamane are nearing retirement.

In addition to Puig, the LA Galaxy will be without midfielders Marco Reus and Lucas Sanabria. Like Zanka, Sanabria is also a newcomer to both MLS and the LA Galaxy. Reus was in the same position last August.

Sanabria is not 100% because of a hurt foot, and Reus is listed out with a lower body injury. Losing Reus, the LA Galaxy's leader in assists (9), is a huge blow to their offense. Reus has also scored five times in 2025 for the six-time MLS Cup winners.

Forward Matheus Nascimento joins Reus on the injury report with the same injury. He, too, is a newcomer this year but was not signed to a long-term deal like Sanabria or Zanka. Christian Ramirez, who has not played for the LA Galaxy since May, is also questionable for Saturday's match against the Sounders.

The LA Galaxy's roster looks like their playoff hopes, pretty banged up. Getting revenge against Seattle for beating them in the 2025 Leagues Cup semifinals may have to wait until next year.
