Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed that the club plans to keep Mario Martin on a permanent basis after his impressive performances this season.
It must be noted that the 22-year-old midfielder is currently on loan from Real Madrid and has quickly established himself as an important figure in Getafe’s squad.
Speaking about the situation, Torres made it clear that the club already has an agreement in place with Real Madrid and intends to activate the option included in the loan deal.
“Mario Martin is definitely staying. He is performing well, and there is an agreement with Real Madrid. What we will do is exercise the option,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a productive campaign with Getafe so far.
Since arriving at the club last summer, Martin has played 27 matches in all competitions, contributing four goals and one assist from midfield.

Notably, Martin is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy and has long been considered one of the promising midfield talents developed within the club’s system.
He first stepped onto the senior stage for Real Madrid in January 2023, making his first-team debut during a Copa del Rey clash against Atletico Madrid.
During that match, he entered the field in extra time as a substitute for Rodrygo in a 3-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In search of regular playing time, the midfielder left Real Madrid on loan in 2024, joining Real Valladolid for a season in Spain’s top division.
However, after Valladolid suffered relegation, Martin moved again the following year, this time joining Getafe on another temporary deal.
That decision has proven to be beneficial for both the player and the club, as Martin has developed into a key member of Getafe’s midfield and his performances have convinced the club’s leadership that he deserves a permanent place in the squad.
