La Liga president launches scathing attack on the Club World Cup
The FIFA Club World Cup continues to stir up controversy. After Jamal Musiala’s serious injury and repeated criticism over an overloaded calendar, it is now Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, who is firing heavy shots at the tournament.
On his X account (formerly Twitter), the Spanish executive pulled no punches:
A total fiasco for the Club World Cup. Players and leagues are against it, schedules are wrecked, and the professional football ecosystem is severely damaged.
Tebas goes even further, criticizing FIFA's ticketing policy:
To top it all off: ticket prices are slashed to fill the stadiums, while tax issues arise for players and clubs.
In a barely veiled jab at FIFA president Gianni Infantino, he concludes sarcastically:
And yet, some still dare to claim it’s a resounding success and the future of football. May God protect us from these ‘enlightened’ ones, I beg you.
