Amid uncertainty over the permanent signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, FC Barcelona have been keeping an eye on the market for young wingers as alternatives.

One name that has impressed the Catalans and emerged as a target is CA Osasuna attacker Victor Munoz.

Having joined the club in the summer, the 22-year-old has made a big impression in La Liga this term, even earning his debut for the Spanish national team last month.

However, a deal for Munoz seemed unlikely given the fact that Real Madrid still own 50% of his economic rights, having only sold 50% of it to Osasuna last summer for €5 million.

Hope for Barcelona as Munoz changes agents

But, just when it seemed that a potential move for Munoz to Barcelona had definitively faded due to complex ties with Real Madrid, a surprising move by the player has reignited speculation about a future in Blaugrana colours.

Indeed, according to SPORT, the Osasuna winger has changed his representation agency and joined Niagara Sports Company, the same agency that represents Barcelona players such as Dani Olmo and Joan Garcia.

This change is not coincidental. The agency maintains a strong and fluid relationship with Barcelona, as demonstrated in recent dealings.

In the event of genuine interest, they would not place obstacles and would facilitate negotiations. This contrasts with his previous representatives, The Team (Wasserman), who also represent players such as Federico Valverde.

History with Barcelona

Born in Barcelona, Munoz spent time at La Masia between 2014 and 2017, where he shared youth ranks with players such as Alejandro Balde and Xavi Simons.

He later moved to Damm (2017-2021) before joining Real Madrid, where he made his first-team debut. Now, after his transfer to Osasuna, he has returned to Barça’s orbit with greater maturity and ambition.

As mentioned previously, though, Real Madrid’s presence makes a deal difficult. They still retain 50% of his economic rights and have a buyback option of €8 million this summer, with staggered increases in future years.

Additionally, Munoz has a €40 million release clause, which Osasuna are unwilling to lower as they do not want to lose one of their most valuable assets.

However, the change of agency opens a window of opportunity.

If Barcelona act quickly and reach an agreement with Osasuna before Real Madrid activate their buyback clause, the Merengues would only receive 50% of the transfer fee and would not be able to block the move.
