Westphalia’s Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper reports that at least one MLS side has shown interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna. Dortmund continue to struggle to find a taker for the 22-year-old, whose estimate market value has now dipped down to €7m following another lackluster Bundesliga campaign. The report suggests Los Angeles FC may be interested in taking Reyna on.
The unfortunate tale of the talented youngster once dubbed “The American Dream” by the German press continues. Injuries and questions about the youngster’s work ethic for both club and country have seen the once €42m-valued mega-phenom’s career steadily tank.
Reyna made three league and three Champions League starts for Dortmund last season. Overall, he scored two goals and registered one assist in 25 appearances across all competitions. For the most part, Reyna was fit enough to play.
Reyna last extended his BVB contract shortly before being loaned out to Nottingham Forest in January 2024. Unfortunately, the six-month stint with the Premier League outfit didn’t work out at all. Reyna now enters the final year of his Dortmund contract.
Reyna has been linked with a move to Real Sociedad on more than one occasion, but it appears as if interest from the La Liga outfit has dried up.
Reyna earned one cap for the USMNT this year in the CONCACAF Nations League third-place playoff.
He made one brief 12 minute relief appearance for Dortmund at the recent Club World Cup.
