Gustaf Lagerbielke was pictured returning to Celtic training on Friday. The central defender returns after spending last season on loan at FC Twente.
The 25-year-old is expected to move on this summer but could force his way into the manager’s thinking if he impresses during pre-season. Celtic are looking to strengthen the squad in all areas and while it is anticipated the returning loan players will be moved on, the spell in the top flight of Dutch football as well as the Europa League, may have benefited the player.
Portuguese side Braga have made an offer to sign Lagerbielke. The Swedish defender spent last season on loan but is expected to leave the Scottish Champions this summer after failing to impress Brendan Rodgers.
The report comes from Fabrizio Romano in a now deleted tweet. Romano posted a tweet which said that Braga had made the offer to FC Twente, who Lagerbielke turned out 32 times for the Dutch side. Of course, this is likely just a mistake from the Italian transfer guru and he means that the bid has been made to Celtic.
The £3m switch was expected to be a replacement for his compatriot, with Maik Nawrocki also arriving in the summer. However, the Swedish central defender made just ten appearances as well as scoring one goal – the win against Feyenoord in the UCL.
