Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal was one of the standout names at the recent Mundo Deportivo Grand Gala, where he was recognised for his outstanding performances over the past year.
While receiving his award, the young winger also spoke about Barcelona’s objectives for the remainder of the season.
With the campaign entering a crucial phase, Yamal stressed the need for the team’s biggest talents to step up and deliver.
“Now come the important moments, and that is when the quality players in our team have to step up. I am enjoying this moment, and I am going for more,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
Barcelona currently sit at the top of the La Liga table, but Yamal is fully aware that the title race is far from over.
Reflecting on the league challenge, he explained the reality of the situation. “It’s the most difficult competition because it’s the longest.
“Nothing is decided until the end, and like last year, we’ll have to fight until the end, earn points, not lose any games, because they’re all important, and hopefully we will.”
The youngster also addressed Barcelona’s ambitions in the Champions League.
After the painful extra-time defeat to Inter in thesemi-final last season, the competition remains a major objective for the club.

“It’s different, the position doesn’t mean anything, only that we can rest more, and whoever our opponent is, we’ll go all out and try to win,” he said.
When the conversation turned to his personal numbers, Yamal made it clear that goals are not his main concern.
Explaining his perspective, he said, “My game is not based on that.
“It’s true that it creates controversy because when I play well, I don’t score, and when I score, I don’t play well, but I want to play well, for the team to win, and to keep it that way,” he said.
Finally, the Barcelona forward addressed the topic of individual awards.
Despite finishing second in the 2025 Ballon d’Or, he insisted that such honours are not something he spends time thinking about.
“I don’t think about it. It’s an award that, if you think about it, you’re not going to get an answer. It depends on what you win, how you play, and who votes.
“It’s not something that is decided by your play. I just want to enjoy myself and win with Barça and the national team,” he concluded.
