Lamine Yamal welcomes Barcelona move for Julian Alvarez: ‘I hope it works out’ | OneFootball

Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has received another significant boost, this time from within the dressing room. 

As speculation surrounding the Atletico Madrid forward continues to grow, Lamine Yamal has openly admitted that he would be delighted to see the Argentine arrive at Camp Nou.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona youngster was asked about the club’s interest in Alvarez and made no secret of his admiration for the World Cup winner. 

The latest Barcelona transfer news comes at a time when the club is working to strengthen Hansi Flick’s attacking options ahead of the new season, with Alvarez remaining one of their biggest objectives.

Yamal backs Alvarez’s Barcelona switch

During the interview, Yamal was asked directly about Barcelona’s interest in Julian Alvarez and whether he believes the Argentine would fit into the squad.

The teenager made it clear that Alvarez is a player admired by everyone and revealed that the Barcelona dressing room would have no hesitation in welcoming him.

“Everyone knows he’s a top player, the sort everyone wants to play with. I’ve said it before: we’re welcoming him with open arms, and if he comes, we’ll all be very happy. 

“I think he’s a player who fits in really well with Barça’s style. I’ve no idea what the situation is, but I hope it works out.”

Yamal praises Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar

Yamal’s interview also touched on three players who have inspired an entire generation of footballers, namely, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

The Barcelona winger admitted he has been impressed by Messi’s performances during the World Cup while also expressing his admiration for both Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Incredible. Everyone knows who Messi is, but nobody expected him to perform at such a high level. I’m really happy for him. 

“I’m happy for Neymar, even though he’s no longer in the tournament, and for Cristiano.

“ They’ve shaped the childhoods of all of us playing now. Anything good that happens to them will be good for me. That said, if I make it to the final, I want to win it,” he concluded.
