Manchester United appear to be prioritising revamping their goalkeeping department after the signing of Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international is part of Ruben Amorim’s squad travelling to the U.S. for the pre-season tour. His fellow countryman, Onana has also made the trip despite picking up a hamstring injury in training.
It is unlikely that Onana returns to full fitness before the end of the tour, and if the club’s recruitment team get their way, he won’t feature for United after the tour either.
His understudy, Altay Bayındır, also faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, with United keen to overhaul their goalkeeping department.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United held discussions with Aston Villa over the weekend about signing Emiliano Martínez on loan. Villa immediately rebuffed their offer, having slapped a £40 million price tag on their star shot-stopper.
In recent days, United have also stepped up their interest in Royal Antwerp’s highly-rated goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who is valued at around £17m.
According to CentreDevils‘ SullyTalkz, the Belgian talent is “sitting at the top” of United’s transfer wishlist alongside Martinez.
It is understood that Ruben Amorim has given his approval and United have already initiated contact with the Belgian outfit to understand the 23-year-old’s availability.
Most importantly, Lammens has “given the green light” to a move to United. The young goalkeeper reportedly sees the opportunity as a “dream” move.
However, at the moment, United are focusing on raising funds through sales to further strengthen Amorim’s squad.
The Mancunians are willing to cut ties with Bayindir. It is thought that should the Turkey international leave United, Lammens is at the top of the list to be his replacement.
Meanwhile, United’s pursuit of Martinez hinges on Onana’s future. It has been previously reported that the Villa number one “will not move” to Manchester if the Cameroonian remains at the club.
