David Neres discusses his new Napoli position after two goals to beat Atalanta 3-1, while Noa Lang admits he ‘didn’t always agree’ with Antonio Conte’s decisions.

It has been a tough time for the Partenopei recently, sliding down the table with just two points from the last three official games.

Neres hadn’t scored in the league since January, but ended his 11-month drought with a brace this evening.

“It’s a very important win, we have to keep going, as we have another game in 3-4 days and we cannot stop,” Neres told Sky Sport Italia.

It was notable that this was more of a 3-4-2-1 formation than a pure 3-4-3, as the two wide men were much closer to Rasmus Hojlund than in previous matches.

“The closer you play to the goal, the easier it is to score. I like to play everywhere, as I always say, I just want to feel the pitch, it doesn’t matter where I play.”

Lang netted his first for the club to round out a perfect first half, then Gianluca Scamacca got one back for Atalanta with an acrobatic volley.

“I’m happy to have scored my first goal, and that we won, that’s the most important thing,” Lang told Sky Sport Italia.

The Netherlands international has not been shy about his frustrations with Conte and being pushed down the pecking order, as this was only his second start of the season.

“Honestly, it was a difficult period. I came here with big expectations, I needed to be patient and to work hard. I didn’t always agree with it honestly, but I follow God’s plan.

“From now on, I only want to look forward. The best is yet to come, this is just the beginning.”

Napoli are now hoping to get back on track in the Champions League too when hosting Qarabag on Tuesday, then have a huge Scudetto battle against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma next Sunday.
