Aymeric Laporte and Nico Williams trained with the group on Friday and are pushing to be ready for Sunday’s derby with Real Sociedad at San Mamés, 21:00.
As reported by as.com, injured pair Vivian and Sancet, and Paredes and Yuri Berchiche because of workload, did not work outside with the squad in the morning session at Lezama. Monreal and Hierro remain in the first-team set-up.
The international centre-back could return after around two months out, having suffered a severe biceps femoris injury against Atlético de Madrid.
Berenguer has been nursing a toe problem for weeks, which has seen him drift in and out of line-ups. Nico Williams continues to manage a nagging pubalgia that has blunted his usual impact.
Given the stakes in the league, Valverde could test Nico again against Real Sociedad after he was not named against Sporting de Lisboa and was unable to show his best at Sevilla in the Sánchez Pizjuán.
Iñaki Williams trained alone outside, touched the ball and joined the group, but barring a late twist he is not set to make the game. He has a mild to moderate injury to the triceps surae of his left leg that still needs to heal.
