According to The Laziali, Lazio and Maurizio Sarri have agreed to terminate his contract two years early, with official confirmation still pending. The move is set to clear the path for managerial changes at both clubs.

Sarri returned to Formello for a second stint last summer, signing a two-year deal with an option of a third. After the club received a transfer ban, the agreement was extended to a three-year contract in July as he opted to remain.

Relations then deteriorated, with public clashes over squad quality, transfer plans, the coach’s authority and even fan protests. Sarri all but confirmed his imminent departure after the win over Pisa on the final day.

Despite suggestions talks could drag, both parties pushed for a quick resolution. An agreement was struck on Monday afternoon after hours of discussions involving lawyers and club officials.

They are moving swiftly because arrangements are already in place for next season. The Tuscan coach will sign for Atalanta, reuniting with former Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

Lazio will appoint Gennaro Gattuso on a one-year contract with an option for a second. He is set to earn €one and a half million per season.
