Lazio boost as Tottenham ‘to focus’ on midfield over Sergi Dominguez | OneFootball

Tottenham do not view signing Sergi Dominguez as a priority at present, which could ease Lazio’s pursuit. According to The Laziali, Spurs are concentrating on bringing in two central midfielders, namely Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Dominguez, 21, came through Barcelona’s La Masia, then left last summer for Dinamo Zagreb in a €1.2 million deal.

He enjoyed an excellent debut season in Croatia, starting regularly and making 41 appearances in all competitions. He produced two goals and four assists and helped Dinamo claim the domestic double.

Interest has built across Europe, with Lazio and Tottenham among the leading admirers. Tottenham have already strengthened their defence by signing Marcos Senesi on a free transfer from Bournemouth. Dominguez is valued at around €11-12 million.

Lazio must raise funds before tabling a concrete offer, given a net-zero market restriction. Sales are close for Alessio Romagnoli to Al-Sadd and Ivan Provedel to Inter Milan, but Mario Gila’s exit is required to unlock the move. Gila, 25, has an agreement in principle with Napoli, although a club-to-club accord is still missing.
