Lazio and Empoli continue to publicly argue their contrasting point of views on the whole Jacopo Fazzini debacle.

Lazio & Empoli Can’t Agree on Jacopo Fazzini Deal

The Biancocelesti have identified the 21-year-old as their primary target to bolster the middle of the park in January. But while the Italian capital side offered a package worth €10-11 million, Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi considered it ‘unacceptable’.

Claudio Lotito Dismissive

This prompted a reply from Lazio president Claudio Lotito who insisted the offer was fair, while noting that missing out on the youngster wouldn’t be the end of the world for his club. The Aquile patron made these statements while on the sidelines of an event held at the Campidoglio to celebrate the club’s 125th birthday (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).

I was asked to make an offer for Fazzini, so we did it. Then everyone is free to accept it or not. But I tell you that the proposal was more than reasonable. We are talking about over ten million, I don’t think it was a small figure. It’s not as if it’s either Fazzini or the end of the world.

Complicated Affair

Finally, Empoli sporting director Roberto Gemma then added his input. The Azzurri official insists the two clubs were on the verge of reaching an agreement, but the operation has now hit a stumbling block. He also confirmed that Napoli had made a more enticing offer, but Fazzini wanted Lazio.

It’s a normal negotiation phase, everyone is looking after their own interests. Regarding the figures, we were almost done, even the lad was convinced to go. The most difficult issue was the formula, this is where the negotiations became complicated. I think it’s difficult now. Napoli were interested and their offer was a little higher, but they never came close like Lazio. The player preferred the Biancocelesti. I’m not ruling out anything, but I see it as difficult. Fiorentina kept an eye on him, but never made an offer.
